Last week Diany Dior and her team of icons put together a phenomenal show at the world-famous Sounds Of Brazil music venue in New York City, more affectionately known by the acronym SOBs. Dior has been body-rolling her way into the hearts of music lovers everywhere. Joining the sexy drill sound wave, she left us wanting more after dropping“Favorite Lady”, to then return with not only a remix featuring the song's producer, Cash Cobain, adding his charm, Canadian rapper/producer Nav helped take the song well over a million streams.
We were first introduced to Diany Dior as a more aggressive, “tomboy”, the high energy lyrical performer who bullied her way into rooms, outshining any other rapper. More recently, we have seen more of an emotional, melodic, sensual, and seductive side. (This does not stop the rapper from going on Instagram and letting her followers know what is on her mind or getting her [upset] every so often)
Within the last year, Dior has live streamed, participated in reality TV with Ron Suno, musically, touring with ABoogie, Opening for Shenseea, freestyling on platforms like Hot 97’s DJ Drewski, The Mvmt, and On The Radar by creator Gabe P. Honing in on her aesthetics, she has partnered with Dolls Kill amplifying her alluring edgy emo inspired era. Dolls Killis an online boutique featuring a rebellious spirit and attitude, mixed with a bit of punk rock, goth, glam, and festival fashion ( quote taken from their website).
Finally, before her sold-out show, she drops her album, Big Dior, strategically aligning with artists like Capella Grey, Fivio Foreign, Bay Swag, Skilla Baby, Vontee The Singer, and Dee Billz. Her release party for the project was a sight to see. Hundreds of supporters came to Restocked in Lower East Side Manhattan to enjoy the rising star and her VIP guests. On that list, was Dusty Locane, Billy B, Zeddy Will, BTB Deez, who gave fans a preview of what they could have hoped to see at her upcoming show.
The Big Dior Invasion night began with The Bronx bombshell doing meet and greets with some of her dedicated fans. The merch table housed Dollskill necklace giveaways paired with exclusive Diany Dior T-shirts. Soundcheck loomed in the air, creating an exciting anticipation for the talent that would soon touch the stage. As fans entered, DJ Mixxy Paynewelcomed them with some of their favorite songs.
SOBs owner Larry and his team (Andy, Mari-ann, Edwin, security, bartenders, chefs, and servers), all did a flawless job of keeping the show on point and excelling in their respective areas. They proved once again why SOBs is where all the legends go. SOBs have stood the test of time and COVID. They shall continue to be a staple in the music community.
The lineup performed as if it were a competition. Each performance kept the energy high and the stage on fire. A few stand-out performances, Mia Snow, effortless swag, and catchy songs. NYC faves Deveye and Mo Dubb went back to back and dominated, leaving the audience in a frenzy. Geezly took over the stage and gave us Latina flavor. Then, of course, we can not forget Cleotrapa with her rockstar energy!
When the headliner took to the stage, people were in awe. Her outfit, undoubtedly another Dolls Kill exclusive, provided the essence of early Aaliyah or Janet Jackson if they were from The Bronx. Making her way through the album, Dior, accompanied by her dancers, The Bond Twins, had the audience in a trance. The Bond Twins have danced with everyone from Lola Brooke to Ice Spice and Cardi B, whose careers have all taken off, setting a precedent for whoever they stand next to. Dior ended the night with her hit, “Favorite Lady”, the song that has taken life and opened the door for Dior.
The night was filled with love and good vibrations. From that first introduction to Dior through her manager PHresher, and seeing their synchronicity till now, Dior has the makings of somebody BIG. We are excited to see what is in store for her next!
