Tiwa Savage's "Water and Garri" Premieres on Amazon Prime Video with Stellar Cast and Unforgettable Cinematic Experience

Tiwa Savage, known as the Queen of Afrobeats, made her mark on the cinematic world with the premiere of her movie "Water and Garri" on May 10th, 2024. The highly anticipated event, hosted at the prestigious Neuehouse in New York City, was a star-studded affair that brought together media representatives, celebrities, and industry insiders to celebrate Tiwa Savage's debut starring role.

With experience as a background singer for music icons Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and Brandy, Tiwa Savage's transition to acting was a natural progression for the Grammy-nominated artist. The idea for "Water and Garri" came to her while she was intoxicated, a fact she openly shared during the pre-launch press conference (PUNCH Lite). Despite the unconventional origins of the project, Tiwa Savage's vision was brought to life with new tracks featuring songs from Olamide and Grammy-nominated singer Ayra Starr.

When the ‘Water and Garri’ EP came out, I had no idea of doing a feature film. I thought, ‘Okay, I’m just getting bored of doing music videos.’ I wanted to do a visual album. I was inspired by (Beyonce’s) “Black is King” and Kanye’s films. - Tiwa Savage (Variety)

The screening of "Water and Garri" was followed by an electrifying after party that kept attendees buzzing with excitement. The film's male leading counterpart, Andrew Yaw Bunting, added an extra layer of sizzle to the production with his captivating performance. The chemistry between Tiwa and Andrew on screen promised to enthrall audiences when the film was released on Prime Video on May 10th.

The highlight of the evening was a Q&A session moderated by Asia Ware of New York Magazine’s, The Cut, featuring Tiwa Savage, Andrew Yaw Bunting, director Meji Alabi, and executive producers Jimi Adesanya and Vanessa Amadi. Their insights into the creative process behind "Water and Garri" offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film.

As the celebration of the release of "Water and Garri" on Prime Video continued, the anticipation for Tiwa Savage's cinematic debut reached a fever pitch. Outside of her 19 million Instagram followers, audiences worldwide eagerly awaited the opportunity to experience the magic of "Water and Garri" and witness Tiwa Savage's talent shine on the big screen.
