A.E.- Jacket (Single)
“Jacket,” is only the third track from up and coming Brooklyn artist, A.E. Combining elements of Trap and Bedroom Pop, he’s created a track that serves as the epitome of Bedroom R&B. It’s got a dreamy aesthetic, with Icy keys that sound like an audio lightshow. Producing the rap and the track, A.E. weaves in between beats with a syncopated flow, and a nice vocal melody for the hook. The lyrics focus on the reminiscence of an old relationship, as A.E. reflects on the good and bad that came with the love he’s missing. His somber delivery blends well with the melancholy atmosphere, and almost feels as though he’s lamenting.
If you’re a fan of Melodic Trap, Bedroom Pop, and Alternative Hip-Hop, be on the lookout for “Jacket,” when it drops on Friday, June 16th!
DrippednFilthy - We Outside Today (Single)
As soon as the track starts, you’re thrust into its energetic environment of New York artist DrippednFilthy. The beat is super bouncy, with a commanding kick drum that carries the rhythm throughout the track. It’s a song that begs to be played outside, with a sound system to match the swagger it exudes. Honestly, this beat is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time, and is a far cry from some of the Drill-influenced tracks that DrippednFilthy has put out in the past. Despite the difference in sound, there’s no difference to be found in his presence and delivery, or his impressive lyricism. He flows on the beat well, finding different pockets where he can experiment with his timing and still make it sound great.
If you’re a fan of Alternative Hip-Hop, Boom Bap, and Trap, add “We Outside Today,” to your playlist when it drops on Friday, June 16th!
#BANDO! - RECEIPT (Single)
The rage is out in full force on this track from New York artist #BANDO!. There’s so much going on all at once, with so many different sounds clashing to create the chaos that appeals to so many fans of Rage artists like Playboi Carti, Yeat, and Destroy Lonely, to name a few. The drums have been mixed so they feel like your speakers are about to pop, which some people might not like, but to be honest, I thought it was pretty entertaining. The distortion is one of my favorite parts about the tracks, and it’s interesting to see how many different filters #BANDO!’s voice goes through over the course of nearly-3-minute track.
If you’re a fan of Rage and Alternative Hip-Hop, I highly recommend giving “RECEIPT,” a listen when it drops on Friday, June 23rd.
