AES Vissle - “Gut Oggau”

A sonic switch up from “knowhow2ride”, Aes Vissle’s latest track “Gut Oggau” opts for a chopped up soul sample as the backbone of its beat, as opposed to the Jersey Club syncopation that rang throughout the previous track. Beyond sonics, the song couldn’t be more different than its predecessor. With bars that are insfightgul and explore his own feelings amidst fake friends and situations that no longer serve him. The track’s production enhances its atmosphere. If I had to pull an image from my mind that represents what I’m seeing when I listen to the song, it would be Aes sitting in a chair by a fireplace, suited up with one leg crossed up over the other, smoking a cigar while sipping on the titular Gut Oggau, and recounting how he got to where he is. It very much feels like a story is being told throughout the 2 minute and 17 second run time. Such a vivid image is testament to Aes’ own lyrical prowess, and his ability to paint a full-fledged picture with just his words. Hearing Aes spit bars like this over a beat like this gave me flashes of Tyler, The Creator and Griselda. The only gripe I could possibly have with this track is that I wish it was a bit longer. Otherwise I don’t have anything negative to say in the slightest.
