As the 12th annual Pure Heat Community Festival approaches, excitement is building as GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Tamar Braxton is set to receive the Ultimate Icon Award during the event. The festival, part of the first-ever Global Black Pride in Atlanta, will take place from August 26 to September 2, 2024.
Joining Tamar Braxton at the festival will be a star-studded lineup including Jessica Betts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Billy Porter, Yemi Alade, Omawumi, Funky Dineva, and more. The weeklong celebration will feature various activities such as a two-day music festival at Piedmont Park, a Gala & Influencer Dinner, LGBTQIA+ Human Rights and Health Conference, R&B Brunch, Empowerment Brunches, and a Global Black Pride March.
The third annual Black Excellence Influencer's Dinner will be a highlight of the festivities, honoring individuals and organizations that significantly impact the LGBTQIA+ community. The event, hosted by RockStars Production and Traxx Girls, will feature honorees including Funky Dineva, Judge Pierce Hand Seitz, and Congress Woman Barbara Lee.
The Pure Heat Community Festival on September 1 will be a free "day of unity" at Atlanta's Piedmont Park, featuring market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes, and giveaways. Tamar Braxton will be honored with the Ultimate Icon Award, while Keke Palmer will receive the Humanitarian Award and Jessica Betts will be presented with the Trailblazer Award by her wife Niecy Nash-Betts.
Global Black Pride Atlanta is presented by various sponsors, including AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Eli Lilly, Human Rights Campaign, Viiv Healthcare, and more. A portion of the proceeds from the weekend's festivities will benefit homeless LGBTQIA+ youth and those affected by HIV/AIDS through The Vision Community Foundation.
